North Shore

East & West of Spreckelsville Beach

Drive past Kahului and Kahului Airport on Hwy. 36 and watch for Stable Rd./Spreckelsville Beach Rd. Turn left on Stable Rd. and drive to the end of the road where homes face the beach. Park roadside and walk through sand dunes to Spreckelsville Beach, then left to Kahana Beach Park. Otherwise head to the right around Papalua Point to small Sugar Cove (in front of the Paani Pt. Condos) and turn around at Pa’ani Point and return. As an alternative, drive on Hana Hwy. to Nonohe Place, turn left and left again and park at the end of the dead-end road (at Paani Pt. Condos). Use shoreline Access #302 to reach Sugar Cove on your left where you can walk to Spreckelsville Beach and Kahana Beach.

Baldwin Beach & Baby Baldwin Beach

After breakfast or lunch in Pa’ia, drive on the Hana Hwy. to Baldwin Beach Park (sign at MM 6). Park and walk westward (left) along the beach past ironwoods, palms and kiawe trees for more than a mile to Baby Baldwin Beach. As an alternative, drive on Hwy. 36 to Nonohe Pl., turn left (driving from Kahului) and then right (at the end of the street is the entrance to the Maui Country Club), and then left again at Kealakai Pl. to the dirt parking area for Baby Baldwin Beach. Walk east (right) along the coast toward Baldwin Beach (if you can resist taking a dip in the cove).

Maliko Bay

Drive on Hana Hwy. past Pa’ia, turn right on the paved road in Maliko Gulch that turns under Hwy. 36, and becomes a dirt road. Follow the dirt road to the end and park. Take a short scenic walk past the boat launch along Maliko Bay to the end.

Pauwela Point

Drive past Pa’ia and Ho’okipa Beach Park toward Hana. Turn left on a dirt road just east of the Haiku Community Center to the lighthouse at the cliff’s edge, and walk around scenic Pauwela Point and its coves.

Ke’anae Peninsula

Turn off Hana Hwy. at the sign for Ke’anae Peninsula. Drive around the peninsula to parking near picturesque ihi’ihio lehowa ona Kaua church, and walk along the coast.
